Seasonal Automotive Advice

The winter months are ahead of us and there are important things that we as motorist need to check as the seasons change. Here is a list of some items worth looking at to prepare your vehicle for any road trip, or even just driving around town.

  • Check all the fluids for proper condition and level. If the engine coolant is over two years old or is discolored you run the risk of premature cooling system failure or improper freeze protection.
  • Be sure to inspect the windshield wiper blades and the washer fluid. Many people overlook the wiper blades of a vehicle. They should be replaced twice a year to ensure that when you need them they will wipe the windshield clean. Also be sure to inspect the washer fluid so the wipers will be able to clean the road grime off the windshield.
  • Inspect the tires for proper inflation and tread depth. 1/8 inch minimum tread depth is required for good road contact.
  • Make sure you are current on the vehicle license sticker and the state inspection sticker.
  • Inspect the belts and the hoses for any cracks, fractures or soft spots.
  • Check all the vehicle lighting to insure that the headlights, taillights, turn signals, and brake lights are all working. Don’t forget the licence plate light.

If you are unable to inspect these items on your vehicle you can call for and appointment and we will be glad to perform a comprehensive seasonal inspection.
